Two options available are deep engraving, or etching. Etching is typically done by a laser, and has black lettering left on the surface. Deep engraving can be done with a laser, but the best option available is rotary engraving. The benefits of deep engraving include a physical engraving on the part’s surface that will last for the life of the component, and that backfilling can be be properly performed on markings deeper than .013 of an inch.

Backfilling a component’s engraved text and characters is beneficial as it provides contrast between the part and markings. Along with contrast, it creates the ability to have color. Most manufacturers with engraving capabilities will only offer you the options of plain engraving, and black text. Deskin Dynamics believes that the more options available there is, the better quality the final product will be. As with any of our services, the materials that can be engraved include, plain carbon steel, stainless, aluminum, titanium, gold, silver… virtually any material can be marked by our machinery.
